Creating an Announcement

Creating an announcement is a single form: you write the content, choose an audience, optionally tag it, and send. This article covers the content and sending. Audience targeting and tags are covered in detail in the next article.

Start creating

Go to Learning → Announcements and click New Announcement. The form opens with the title "New Announcement".

Announcements list with filter options and a new announcement button.

Announcement Details

Announcement Name (required)

New Announcement form with fields for name, description, image upload, and visibility settings.

The title of the announcement, up to 150 characters (a counter is shown). It cannot be blank.

Description (required)

The message body, written in a rich-text editor. This is the main content learners read. It cannot be empty.

Upload Image (optional)

Add a single image. Accepted formats are PNG, JPG, JPEG, and WebP. The maximum size is 1MB, and a 16:9 ratio is recommended.

Urgency (optional)

Set the importance level: Low, Medium, or High (or leave it at the default, which is none). This is shown to learners and used for filtering.

Announcement Visibility

Choose who sees the announcement over time:

  • Visible to existing users only: only learners who already exist see it.
  • Visible to existing and new users in future: future learners also see it.

Visibility is set at creation and cannot be changed when editing. Choose it before you send.

Target audience and tags

Below the content, you choose the Target Audience (all learners or specific courses) and optionally add custom field tags. These are covered fully in Targeting Your Audience & Tags.

Send the announcement

  1. When everything is filled in, click Announce.

New Announcement form with Announce button highlighted.
  2. A confirmation dialog titled Confirm Announcement appears: "By clicking Announce, the update will be sent to the selected learners."

  3. Click Announce to send. You will see "Announcement sent successfully."

If a required field is missing, you will see "Please enter the mandatory fields"; if you chose Course Wise but selected no batch, you will be asked to select a batch.

Editing an announcement

To edit, open an active announcement and change what you need. Note the differences from creating:

When editing, the primary button is Update and there is no confirmation dialog; changes save directly. The Target Audience and Visibility are locked and cannot be changed. You can still update the title, message, image, urgency, and tags.

Content checklist

  • Announcement Name set (up to 150 characters)

  • Description written

  • Image added if wanted (under 1MB, 16:9)

  • Urgency set if relevant

  • Visibility chosen (cannot be changed later)

  • Audience selected (see the next article)

What's next

Choose exactly who receives it in Targeting Your Audience & Tags.
