Introduction to Announcements
Announcements let you send a message to your learners' dashboards, for example a schedule change, a new course, or an important notice. This article explains how announcements work and their key limits before you create one.
Where announcements live
Announcements sit under Learning → Announcements in the left-hand menu.

How delivery works
An announcement is composed once and sent to a chosen audience. A few things are important to understand up front, because they shape how you use the feature:
[!Important] Announcements are sent immediately when you confirm. There is no scheduling, no draft, and no send-later. Compose it when you are ready to send it.
Announcements are delivered to learners' dashboards (web and app). There is no choice of channel: they are not separately sent as email, SMS, or push from this module.
Urgency
You can set an urgency level to signal importance: None, Low, Medium, or High. This is shown to learners and used for filtering in your list. It does not change how or when the announcement is delivered.
Statuses
An announcement is in one of two states:
- Active: live and visible to its audience. Only active announcements can be edited or archived.
- Archived: removed from learners' dashboards.
There are no draft, scheduled, or expired states.
Key things you cannot change later
Once an announcement is sent, its target audience and visibility cannot be changed. You can still edit the content (title, message, image, urgency, tags), but not who it went to. Decide the audience carefully before sending.
Archiving an announcement is permanent. It is removed from learners' dashboards, learners are not notified, and there is no unarchive. To bring back a message, create a new announcement.
Permissions
Announcements are permission-gated (not tied to a specific plan):
- View announcements: read access.
- Create and edit: write access.
- Archive: delete access.
Admins have full access. If you cannot see the New Announcement button or an action, you may not have the required permission.
