Introduction

The AI Companion is a learner-facing chat assistant that answers questions and explains concepts around your course content, 24/7. It sits under Veda AI → AI Companion.

Enable the Companion

If it has never been set up, the page introduces the benefits (instant doubt solving, conversational learning, personalization) with an Enable AI Companion button. Click it to switch the agent on.

Once set up, the page shows an Enable AI Companion switch:

  • On: learners can get instant, contextual help grounded in your course content.
  • Off: the Companion is unavailable to learners.

Course indexing (the Companion's knowledge)

For the Companion to answer accurately, your course content must be indexed.

Turn on Enable Indexing of Courses. Indexing helps the AI understand your course content and live sessions so learners get accurate answers, search results, and recommendations. It also feeds the Content Generator and live-class summaries.

Indexing can take up to 24 hours to complete. Enable it well before you expect learners to rely on the Companion.

Choosing which courses are indexed

A badge shows how many courses are enabled for indexing (for example, "8 out of 20 courses enabled for indexing"). Click View to open the course list, where you can:

  • Search courses by name.
  • Filter to only those already enabled, using Show Indexing Enabled Courses.
  • Tick the courses to index (each row shows an enabled or disabled status).

Before you save, the dialog shows how many AI credits the selected indexing will use.

[!Important] Indexing consumes AI credits. Review the credit estimate shown before saving, and keep your AI credit balance topped up (see AI Credits).

Saving asks you to confirm ("Save changes?").

Upselling

An Enable Upselling of Products option (recommending products to learners based on their interests) is shown as Coming Soon and cannot be turned on yet.

Learner access

Only learners you explicitly add can use the Companion. See Managing AI Companion Learner Seats.
