Creating & Editing a Module

This article covers creating a module in the library, setting its options, and building its content.

Create a module

  1. Go to Learning → Module Library and click Add Module. A drawer opens titled "Add Module".
  2. Fill in the fields:
    • Name (required): the module name, up to 100 characters.
    • Branch: the branch(es) this module belongs to. It defaults to your current branch.
    • Maximum View Duration: how long learners can watch the content:
      • Unlimited: no limit.
      • Restricted: limits total watch time. When chosen, set a Multiplier, and the drawer shows the resulting total watch time based on the content length.
  3. Click Add Module to save. You will see "Module created successfully".

Watch time is the total viewing time allowed. With Restricted selected, the multiplier is applied to the content's length to calculate how much total viewing each learner gets (useful for limiting re-watching of premium video).

If your account uses the Woolf integration, a Woolf Course ID field appears.

The Woolf Course ID cannot be changed later. It is set at creation and is locked when editing, so enter it correctly the first time.

Build the module's content

After creating the module, open it to add content. The builder is the same one used for course modules, so the steps match the Courses collection:

  • Add sections to organize the module.
  • Add materials to each section: video, audio, PDF, YouTube, image, doc, sheet, slide, text/HTML, zip, SCORM, link/embed, and more.
  • Add exercises (quizzes), assignments, and programming assignments.
  • Rearrange sections, and clone sections or materials from your existing library.

For the full step-by-step on sections and material settings, see the Courses collection articles on building curriculum and adding content. Everything there applies here.

A module opened from the library and the same module opened inside a course use the identical builder. The only difference is where the back button returns you.

Editing a module

To edit a module's details, use Edit from its row in the Module Library list, which reopens the drawer. To edit its content, open the module and use the builder.

Give modules clear, reusable names (for example, "Intro to Python: Variables") rather than course-specific ones, since the same module may appear in several courses.
