Managing the Module Library

This article covers the Module Library list: finding modules, editing, and deleting them safely.

The Module Library list

Go to Learning → Module Library. The list shows:

  • Module Name (with its description).
  • Content: the number of sections in the module.

You can search by name and filter by course and batch to find modules.

Row actions

Open the Actions menu on a module:

  • Edit: reopen the module's details drawer.
  • Delete: remove the module from the library.

Clicking a module row (rather than the actions menu) opens the module builder to work on its content.

Deleting a module

Deleting is guarded to prevent accidents.

  1. Choose Delete from the actions menu.
  2. The Delete Module dialog warns: "Warning! Are you sure you want to delete this module?" and "This action cannot be undone."
  3. A 10-second countdown runs before the delete button becomes active (it shows "Delete Module(10s)" counting down). Wait for it, then confirm.

Deleting a module is permanent. The countdown is a safeguard, not a way to undo; once deleted, the module cannot be recovered.

Deleting a module that is used in courses

You can delete a module even if courses use it. Because course content is added as clones (copies), deleting the library module does not remove the copies already in those courses.

This is the flip side of the "About Clones" behavior: deleting a library module will not break courses that cloned its content, but it also means those courses keep their own copies, which no longer update from the library.

Permissions

  • View the library: curriculum manage-read access.
  • Create a module: curriculum create-write access.
  • Edit a module: curriculum manage-write access.
  • Delete a module: curriculum manage-delete access.

Admins and instructors have broad access. Actions you lack permission for are hidden.

You're done

That completes the Module Library collection. You can now build reusable modules, understand how cloning and linking bring them into courses, and manage your library safely.
