Adding Questions to a Bank
This article covers the question editor: the types you can create, every field, and the extras such as paragraphs, sub-questions, and audio.
Open the bank
From Learning → Question Bank, click a bank to open it. The bank screen shows every question in it, with a search box ("Search questions"), and buttons for Export as CSV, Import, and Add Question.
If AI question generation is switched on for your organization, the single Add Question button is replaced by two: Add Manually and Generate with AI. See Generating Questions with AI.
An empty bank shows "No questions added to this question bank".
Question types
Click Add Question (or Add Manually) and pick a Question Type:
| Type | How it is answered |
|---|---|
| MCQ - Single Correct | One correct option, chosen with a radio button. Starts with 4 options |
| MCQ - Multiple Correct | Several correct options, chosen with checkboxes. Starts with 4 options |
| Fill in the Blanks | A typed answer, matched against the accepted answers you list |
| Subjective | A free-text answer that a person grades |
| True/False | Two fixed options, True and False |
The question type is set per question, so one bank can mix MCQs, true/false, and subjective questions. When you create a bank from inside an exercise you also pick a default question type for it.
The question fields
| Field | Required | Notes |

Every rich text field has an Advanced Editor toggle that unlocks the full toolbar: colours, font sizes, super and subscript, tables, images, links, code, and an equation editor.
Writing options
The options table has columns Options, Correct Answer, and Delete. Use Add New Option to add more (available for both MCQ types). True/False is fixed at two options and cannot be edited.
Every question needs at least two options and at least one marked correct. Saving without them gives "Give atleast two options for the question" or "Please add options".
Fill in the Blanks answers
List every acceptable answer separated by a pipe character. The helper text in the product says it directly: if both "Tamil Nadu" and "TN" should be accepted, enter Tamil Nadu | TN.
Include the common variations: abbreviations, plurals, and British and American spellings. Anything you leave out will be marked wrong automatically.
Paragraphs and sub-questions
For comprehension-style items:
- Add Paragraph adds a passage above the question. Use Remove Paragraph to take it away.
- Add New Sub-Question adds a child question under the same passage, labelled Sub-Question 01, 02, and so on, each with its own type, marks, options, and Remove link.
In the bank, sub-questions are numbered under their parent, for example 01.1 and 01.2.
Audio questions
Add Audio File attaches an audio clip from your media library to the question. Once attached you see the file name, a player, and a Remove link, plus a Maximum plays setting that limits how many times a learner can listen.
Audio is an attachment to a question, not an answer type. Learners still answer using the question type you chose, for example MCQ or Subjective.
Additional question fields
Tick Show additional question fields to fill in any custom question fields your organization has defined. These are all optional and can be text, number, date, single select, multi select, or true/false.
Saving
Click Save and Continue. You will see "Question added successfully". Missing required fields give "Please enter the mandatory fields".
Editing and deleting a question
Each question card shows its Que. ID, its marks in green, its negative marks in red, and edit and delete icons.
- Edit reopens the editor.
- Delete asks "Are you sure you want to delete this question ?".
[!Important] Editing or deleting a question changes it in every exercise linked to this bank, including tests that are already published. Check where a bank is used before changing an answer key mid-term.
