Introduction to Campaigns

Campaigns let you send one-off marketing messages to your learners across Email, WhatsApp, SMS, and Push. This article explains what campaigns are, what you need before sending, and the key concepts.

Where campaigns live

Campaigns sit under Marketing → Campaigns in the left-hand menu.

Campaigns list with filter and create options.

What a campaign is

A campaign is a single broadcast: you pick a channel, choose an audience, attach a message template, and send it now or schedule it for later. Campaigns are for one-time sends.

Campaigns are different from Workflows (also under Marketing). Workflows are automated, trigger-based sequences. This collection covers Campaigns, the one-off broadcasts.

Channels

Campaigns can go out on:

  • Email
  • WhatsApp
  • Push notification
  • SMS (supported by the platform, though not currently offered as a channel choice when creating a new campaign)

Each channel shows content and stats suited to it (for example, an email subject line, or SMS character counts).

Before you can send

A few prerequisites commonly block first-time use:

[!Important] Campaigns require Notifications 2.0. Older organizations still on the 1.0 system are prompted to switch before using campaigns.

[!Important] Email and WhatsApp require a promotional integration. If one is not set up, those channels are disabled with a prompt to configure the integration in settings. Push is always available.

Statuses

A campaign moves through these states:

  • Draft: saved but not sent. Only drafts can be edited.
  • Upcoming: scheduled and waiting to send.
  • Ongoing: currently sending.
  • Ended: finished.
  • Cancelled: stopped before or during sending.
  • Failed: could not send (for example, due to low balance).

A Failed campaign is often caused by low messaging balance. Keep enough credits for your audience size before going live.

Permissions

  • View campaigns and analytics: campaigns read access.
  • Create, edit, and cancel: campaigns write access.

Admins have full access. The Create button is hidden without write access.
