Managing Certificate Templates
This article covers the certificate templates list: what you see and the actions available.
The templates list
Go to Learning → Certificates. The list shows your certificate templates with these columns:

- Certificate Name
- Description
- Serial Prefix
- Issued: how many certificates have been issued from the template (sortable). Automated templates show an auto badge (by courses or by exams).
- Validity: the expiry setting, or No Expiry.
- Actions
Use Search Certificates to find a template, and New Certificate to create one. Click a row to open its issued-certificates page.
Row actions
Open the Actions menu on a template:

- View Details: open the certificate's issued list and stats.
- Edit Template: reopen the template form to change its details.
What is not available
To set expectations:
Certificate templates cannot be deleted, duplicated, or set as a default from this list. The only row actions are View Details and Edit Template. If you no longer want to use a template, simply stop issuing from it.
Editing considerations
When you edit a template, remember the locks noted earlier:
Automation and its criteria cannot be changed after creation, and custom fields already saved cannot be removed. If you need a fundamentally different setup, create a new template.
Permissions
- View templates and issued certificates: certificate manage-read access.
- Create, edit, issue, publish, download, re-certify: certificate manage-write access.
Admins have full access, and write-only buttons (New Certificate, Edit Template, Issue Certificate) are hidden without write permission.
You're done
That completes the Certificates collection. You can now create templates, design them in the builder or upload your own HTML, automate issuance with criteria and notifications, issue manually or in bulk, and manage issued certificates and templates over time.
