Resetting, Importing & Exporting

Beyond grading one submission at a time, you can let a learner reattempt, import marks in bulk, and export reports. These live mainly in a batch's assessment area. This article covers them.

Resetting an attempt (allowing a reattempt)

Within a batch's assessment submissions, you can reset a learner's attempt so they can try again.

  1. Open the batch and go to its assessment submissions (Test Submissions).
  2. Find the learner, open View Attempts, and choose Reset on the attempt.

Reset is permission-gated and is not available when the assessment is in practice mode. Resetting lets the learner attempt the assessment again; the Review option is unavailable until an attempt has actually been submitted ("Attempt not submitted yet").

Importing submissions (bulk marks via CSV)

For quizzes and exercises, you can import marks in bulk instead of grading each one.

  1. In the batch's assessment submissions, choose Import Submissions.
  2. Download the sample file and fill it in.
  3. Upload your CSV (CSV only, up to 2 MB).
  4. Submit. Any rows with errors can be downloaded so you can fix and re-import.

Bulk grading is done through this CSV import (for quizzes and exercises). There is no multi-select "grade all" in the main Submissions list; grade individually there, or import in bulk here.

Exporting

You have two kinds of export:

  • From the Submissions list: Download CSV exports the current list (subject to export permission; large exports are queued).

Submissions page with a table of learner data and a download CSV button.
  • From a batch's assessment submissions: Export offers Export Progress Report and Export Attempt Report.

Larger exports are added to a queue rather than downloaded on the spot. You will be pointed to your scheduled tasks, where the file appears when it is ready.

Attempts timeline

View Attempts opens a timeline of a learner's attempts on an assessment, each tagged (for example, Evaluated or Imported), with a Review button to open the grading screen and a Reset button where permitted.

You're done

That completes the Submissions collection. You can now find submissions, grade assignments and quizzes, run AI and proctoring reviews, and reset, import, and export at scale.
