WhatsApp Templates
This article covers creating a promotional WhatsApp template: the body, media, call-to-action buttons, and understanding WhatsApp's approval process.
Create a WhatsApp template
Go to Marketing → Promotional Templates, set the channel dropdown to Whatsapp Templates, and click Add Template. Save with Save and Continue.

Body
Template Name (required): a reference label. It can contain only lowercase letters, numbers, and underscores (no spaces or other characters).

Template Body (required): the message text. Insert placeholders for personalization.
WhatsApp Integration (required): the WhatsApp integration to send through.
Message Type: choose Text, Image, or File. For Image or File, upload the media (up to 1MB).
Target Link (CTA buttons)
You can add up to three call-to-action buttons under Target Link. For each:
- A CTA title (the button label).
- A URL (include the protocol, for example
https://www.example.com).
Use Add New CTA to add another, and Remove to delete one.
Approval status
WhatsApp templates are reviewed by Meta before they can be used. A status is shown for each:

- Approved: ready to use.
- Pending: awaiting review.
- Rejected: not approved (a reason is shown on hover).
- Not Available: the template could not be synced; resubmit it to sync.
Because of Meta's review, a WhatsApp template is not usable until it is Approved. Plan ahead: submit templates before you need them, since approval is not instant.
Editing is not supported
WhatsApp templates cannot be edited after creation. The builder shows a note to this effect, and the fields are read-only. To change a WhatsApp message, create a new template instead.
Save
Click Save and Continue. The template is submitted and appears with its approval status in the list.
