Creating a Batch
Creating a batch takes three short sections: basic details, the course content the batch will use, and an optional community. This article walks through each.
Before you start
- The course must already be published to a branch. If it isn't, open the course, go to Pricing and Publishing, publish it, then return.
- Know your batch name, the instructor who will manage it, and (for scheduled cohorts) the start and end dates.
Start creating
Go to Learning → Batches and click Create Batch, or open a course's Batches tab and click Create Batch there (this pre-links the course).

The form has three sections.
Section 1: Batch Basic Details

Set up the batch's identity and managers.
- Branch: select the branch (locked when the course is already chosen or when editing).
- Batch Name (required): a clear, unique name, for example "Jan 2026 Evening".
- Start date (optional): the batch start date.
- End date: required only if you set a start date.
- Batch manager (required): the primary instructor responsible for the batch.
- Additional batch manager (optional): other instructors to add to the batch.
- Custom Tags: any custom tags your organization uses.
Section 2: Batch Course Content
Choose the course and the modules this batch will use.
- Course name (required): the course this batch belongs to (locked when editing).
- Module (required): select the modules to include. You can select all, or pick a subset to tailor the batch.
- For each selected module, a row appears where you set:
- The Module Name (editable for this batch).
- The Instructor for that module (required).
Assigning modules per batch lets you run a lighter or customized version of the same course for different groups, without creating a separate course.
Section 3: Batch Community Access
Optionally give this batch its own private community.
- Turn on Enable Community for this Batch. All learners added to the batch automatically become members.
- When enabled, set:
- Community Name (required, up to 50 characters, no "/").
- Description (up to 200 characters).
- Community Guidelines (rich text).
- Community Image.
Save the batch

Click Create Batch (or Update batch when editing) to save.
There is no seat or capacity limit on a batch, and no separate batch "type" to choose. A batch becomes live or self-paced based on whether you schedule sessions for it.
