Batches, Instructors & Certificates
Batches are groups of learners who go through a course together, often on a schedule and with an assigned instructor. They are also where certificates are configured. Open your course and select the Batches tab to follow along.
When to use batches
- Live or cohort-based courses: create a batch per intake, with start and end dates and an instructor.
- Self-paced courses: many academies still use a default batch to group all learners and to attach a certificate.
Create a batch
In the course's Batches tab, click Create Batch.

Configure the batch details, including its schedule and settings.

Save the batch.
You can mark one batch as the default for the course, and mark a batch as complete when its run has ended.
Assign instructors
Instructors (labelled Instructors in the platform) are assigned at the batch level. Assign the instructor who will lead each batch so they get access to their learners, sessions, and content.
Certificates
Certificates are configured at the batch level, not on the course Details tab. This lets different batches of the same course issue certificates appropriate to their run.
Set up the certificate for a batch so that learners who meet the completion criteria receive it automatically.
Because certificates and instructors are set per batch, every course that issues certificates needs at least one batch, even a self-paced one.
Enrolling learners into a batch
You enroll learners into a specific batch. You can do this manually from the learner tools, or learners are placed into a batch when they enroll, depending on your setup. See the enrollment documentation for the full process.
Create a clear naming convention for batches, such as "Jan 2026 Evening" or "Corporate - Acme", so they stay easy to manage as they multiply.
