Creating Your First Course

Creating a course on Edmingle is deliberately quick. You start with just the essentials, then flesh out content, pricing, and settings afterward. This article covers the New Course screen.

Before you start

Have a course name, a short description, and a thumbnail image ready. You can change all of these later, so rough drafts are fine.

Create the course

  1. Go to Products → Courses.

  2. Click New Course (top-right).

Courses list with a button to add a new course.
  3. Fill in the fields on the Create Course screen:

    • Course name (required): the title learners will see. Up to 100 characters.
    • Description: a short summary of the course. Up to 2000 characters.
    • Thumbnail Image: drag and drop or upload an image. Supported formats are PNG, JPEG, JPG, and WebP, up to 1MB. The recommended size is 1080 x 720px.
Create Course form with fields for name, description, and thumbnail upload.
  4. Set the optional toggles (see below).

Create Course page with fields for course details and preview.
  5. Click Create Course.

Create Course page with form fields and preview panel.

As you type, a Course Card Preview on the right shows how your course will appear to learners, including the thumbnail, name, and price (shown as "Free" until you set pricing).

Optional settings at creation

  • Enable milestone achievement celebrations on course player: shows learners celebratory nudges as they hit milestones in the course. Good for motivation and completion.
  • Allow this course to be used as AI context: lets the course content power AI features. This appears only if AI is enabled on your plan.

There is no self-paced vs. live choice here. A course becomes "live" simply when you add live classes and batches to it, and "self-paced" when you add on-demand materials like videos and PDFs.

What happens next

After you click Create Course, the course opens and you can start configuring it through its tabs. The natural next step is to build the curriculum.

Do not worry about getting everything perfect now. Create the course, add one module with a little content, then come back to polish pricing, SEO, and settings before you publish.
